Moonwake helps parents plan a child's wake windows and naps. The site moonwake.online and the apps for Android and Wear OS watches are developed and published by the Moonwake team (“we”). To contact us, including about data: hello@moonwake.online.
1. What data we process
About the child — what the parent enters: name (optional), date of birth (the schedule is chosen by it), sex, the “colic often” flag (a variant of the schedule).
From use — the start and end times of wake windows and phase changes, the “fell asleep / didn't fall asleep” answers, night wakings, edits to the schedule in “My day”, calendar notes with tags, daily rhythm settings.
About health — birth weight (optional) and weigh-in records. They are needed to show the baby's weight within the WHO range for the age and to send a monthly reminder about that reference. This is reference information, not a medical assessment.
About the parent — the email address used to sign in; the browser's push notification subscription, if you turned it on; the device time zone, so notifications arrive on time; a random device identifier by which the phone, the watch and the browser recognise each other.
We do not collect phone numbers, location, contacts, photos or advertising identifiers. There are no ads in the app and no tracking of your actions for advertising.
2. A copy on the device
Besides the server, the data of section 1 is kept as a copy on your device — in the app's private storage or in the browser's memory — so that the timer, the records and the notifications work without a connection; when the connection is back, the device and the server reconcile. If backup is enabled on your Android phone, the app's data may end up in an encrypted copy in your Google account together with the data of other apps; this is turned off in the Android settings.
3. How we process the data
Why. So that the data is not lost when you change phones, is the same on every device, and so that phase change notifications arrive even when the app is closed. An account is required: the child's record is created on the server, and without an account the service does not work.
What is on the server. The data from section 1 — to work out the schedule, address you by name, send notifications, sync between devices and sign in by email. We do not use it for advertising, do not sell it and do not pass it to third parties, except for the technical delivery intermediaries: our mail server for sign-in emails and your browser's push notification service. Each of them receives only what is needed for delivery.
Where. The server and the database are hosted in a data centre in the Republic of Kazakhstan (Timeweb Cloud hosting). Transfer happens only over a secure connection (HTTPS). Only the service administrator has access to the database. If you are in another country, by creating an account you agree to your data being transferred to Kazakhstan.
Consent for the child's data. The child's data is entered and sent to us by the child's parent or legal guardian. By creating an account you confirm this and consent to the processing for the purposes stated. Consent can be withdrawn by deleting the account.
Retention. Data is kept for as long as the account exists. An account with no sign-in for 24 months is deleted together with its data after a warning sent by email. Server backups are kept for no longer than 30 days.
4. App permissions
- Notifications — to tell you about a phase change.
- Exact alarms — to fire on time rather than “approximately”.
- Vibration — the signal on the watch and with notifications.
- Keep the watch awake — while the timer is running.
- Internet — the connection to the server when there is an account.
The app does not request the camera, the microphone, location, contacts or files.
5. Your rights and deletion
Two ways, both delete everything at once:
- in the app: Profile, then “Delete account” (we ask for the baby's name so nothing is deleted by mistake);
- without the app: moonwake.online/delete-account — email, the code from the email, the baby's name.
Data disappears from the server at that same moment; backups are cleaned up within 30 days. On the devices where you were signed in, the data is erased the first time the app goes online. You can request a copy of your data or have it corrected by writing to hello@moonwake.online; we reply within 30 days.
6. Children as users
The service is for adults — parents and guardians. A child does not use it, and only an adult may create an account.
7. Cookies
We do not use cookies. The sign-in session and the settings live in the memory of the browser or the app on your device.
8. Changes
We will announce material changes in the app and on the site before they take effect; if the set of data or the purposes change, we will ask for consent again. The date of the version is shown at the top.
